The closing of a nearby school created an immediate need for additional classrooms at Rolling Hills Middle School. To house the overflow, AMS fast-tracked a new Gen7 Two-Story building in just a year, adding two state-of-the-art classroom wings that transition to a central courtyard ideal for socializing and outdoor learning. Relocating the elevator tower flush with the rear exterior wall gives the building a sleeker façade, accented with slanted stair overhangs and striking architectural details. Daylighting and high-performance systems increase energy efficiency now—and will help the building achieve Zero Net Energy when PV panels are installed in the future.

What do you get when you add 20 open-concept classrooms in 2 wings 2 stories tall? Gilroy High’s new math building! Designed for the school’s STEM students, the L-shaped modular building supports collaborative learning, with large, flexible classrooms opening to a quad for convenient flow between indoor and outdoor learning spaces. The building’s blended aesthetic ties together diverse elements of the 40-year-old campus, creatively combining a mansard roofline with alpine-style details—including custom wood stair canopies—to give the building a dynamic feel. Low-maintenance stucco and galvanized finishes are budget-stretchers, chosen to reduce operating costs over decades of use.
